Fall Faves

When the announcement is made that Pumpkin Spice Lattes are available, we know that fall has officially arrived. With the sound of crunching leaves under our feet and the smell of marshmallow candles, we are ready to store our summer wardrobe and go all in for fall fashion.

While Fall 2022 runway styles reveal nothing new under the sun, there are a few ways we can style our current basics to make them more up to date.

Let’s start with what you most likely have in your closet. Lingerie-inspired dresses. We are all likely to have a slip dress hiding somewhere. Layer this with a tank or button-up, throw on a leather jacket, blazer or cardigan.

The basic white tank top. This layering piece stays in style because of its versatility. It’s a fashion workhorse. It can pull double duty by being worn in the summertime or layered in the fall or winter. I wear mine with blazers, cardigans, leggings and jeans.

Feminine pieces with pearls or bow accents. You can have so much fun with this one. I love to mix edgy with ultra feminine. Gives your outfit a beautiful balance.

Bold colors. This fashion trend has been going strong. Wearing bright colors to the office can be tricky. Pair a brightly colored jacket with a solid top and black pants for standout office attire, but for a more everyday attention grabber let your imagination run wild. You can style bold colors with just about anything from leggings to jeans. Have fun with it and let your personality shine.

Faux leather and motto style jackets are still taking center stage. Regardless of your age, don’t be afraid to add some leather pieces into the lineup. Adding ruffles, bows or pearls can soften the look. There’s nothing more current than a leather jacket and jeans.

Western wear is here in a big way. You don’t have to overload on cowgirl gear, but adding a few pieces here and there will do the trick. For example, a great pair of boots with jeans or a skirt will have you feeling like Shania Twain in no time. Other little pieces that set the tone are a western-inspired hat or belt.

The statement coat. Do not be intimidated by this. A bold or simple pattern could constitute as a statement coat. I like to start with a solid-color foundation and build on that so that the coat is the star of the show.

While this doesn’t round out the list of my fall favorites, I have hit the highlights. I think adding a few of the above pieces to your outfit will surely have you feeling vogue ready in no time.

Now that you are fall ready, go grab your pumpkin spice latte and have one for me.
