Magnesium for Menopause. Who Knew?

Menopause … what’s the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word “menopause?”

Night sweats, hot flashes, weight gain, brain fog, loss of skin firmness, vaginal dryness maybe?  We are definitely talking about all of those things, but somewhere lost in the shuffle is body “aches and pains” that accompany this season of life.

As I researched products and ingredients that could ease these symptoms, I came across magnesium and Asutra.  As a breast cancer survivor, clean ingredients are a top priority for me making this discovery doubly rewarding.

I love that Asutra is a woman-owned company that understands the needs of women, have heard our concerns and have taken action to create products that are safe, made from organic plants, essential oils and minerals, such as magnesium.

Magnesium is a mineral that can balance hormones and help minimize and reduce the symptoms of perimenopause and menopause. Who knew?  Magnesium is important for bone health and helps with achy bones and joints. It can assist in the relief of constipation and headaches, also offers a calming effect and helps with insomnia and even restless leg syndrome. This wonderful ingredient also helps regulate our body’s calcium levels. It’s an all-around hero.

For me, Asutra’s transdermal method of delivery (a fancy way of saying all the products go through the skin) is superior to taking oral magnesium supplements. Creams, sprays and salts are absorbed through the skin for a faster, more effective delivery that bypasses the GI tract which many of us have trouble digesting. Consumer surveys have shown that the more regularly you use the magnesium, the more benefit you receive!!  Just know, you will not be alone in slathering yourself in these dreamy products.

The attributes of magnesium for perimenopausal and menopausal women are fantastic but magnesium is not just beneficial for women. Relief for muscle and joint pain, stress, mood, and sleep support are helpful for all.  Recently my husband suffered a back injury.  As he was lying in bed, I offered the Asutra Magnesium Melt Pain Away.  After all, near midnight that’s all I had to offer.  He hesitantly agreed to have me apply the butter-like cream on the sore area on his back and it was able to take the edge off the pain and he was finally able to get some rest.  Two months later, he regularly requests “the cream” for body aches and pains.

We all know self-care is so important but especially as our body ages.  Self-care brings about  self-awareness and allows for us to be in tune with our bodies, goals and thoughts.  A little self-indulgence can improve concentration, focus and motivation,  and helps manage stress, among other things.

“You can’t pour from an empty cup” is a phrase we hear often. It’s not selfish to invest in ourselves and our bodies. After all, it’s the only one we have. Time to make yourself a priority, ladies.

You can read a more in-depth medical explanation on this specific topic from Dr. Soyona Rafatjah, advisory council member of Asutra.

I am especially excited to post this blog in October. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, this woman-owned company will donate a percentage of the proceeds of the sale of all their pink products to the Lynn Sage Breast Cancer Foundation.  You can also find Melt Pain Away, Dream the Night Away and Relieve Your Pain and more at your local Target and also online.  So thankful for brands that hear us and run to the rescue!!
